Augmentation Limitations Across Morph Types

Hey all,

A while ago I found a discussion about synthmorphs in the morph recognition guide having augmentations typically exclusive to biomorphs and vice versa. Eventually, Rob Boyle posted a comment that boiled down to "we've been thinking about making an update to the game that would make most (if not all) of the augmentations available to all morphs, regardless of type". Does anybody remember this thread and/or could link it to me?

Thanks for the help!

With enough engineering it

With enough engineering it anything can be attached to anything. So just use whatever and price it accordingly.

50% Surcharge?

So how much should "accordingly" be? 150% if it's for the wrong morph?

I can't imagine that game balance hinges much on morph type other than if you have an organic or cyber brain.

A slight smell of ions....

Game balance is not really

Game balance is not really included in my thinking here. I cannot think of something that is OP on biomorphs and for that reason is restricted to synthmorphs.
But some implants are easier to "port" than others. For example Endocrinal Control or Adrenal Boost can be replicated in synthmorphs by simply changing the software on their cyberbrains and slightly modifying their frame for faster actuator reaction time. Or maybe only firmware on these actuators with caveat that it will cost higher wear.

On the other hand when you want to implant hidden articulated weapon mount into a biomorph you have to either use a lot of clever surgery and/or engineering to pull it off, hence higher cost.

Perhaps adapting some

Perhaps adapting some implants (or using completely different methods to make something comparable) is just impractical/impossible for existing morphs. It might mean making a new type of morph from scratch, which is why you find illegal mods on certain morphs, someone incorporated it while designing the new morph.

Making a new morph from scratch is likely a difficult and time consuming, but it is definitely done by multiple groups (Carnival of the Goat has all sorts of fun custom jobs).
