Eclipse Phase: Online

I'm wondering if there people with an interest in playing Eclipse Phase via an online method. I suggest Maptools as it's simple and free. Is anyone else interested in getting in on an online game?

There's at least two games running currently at www.rpol.net, but I don't think they're accepting players currently. It's an awesome site for pbf RPGs, and I recommend it to potential GMs trying to find a place for their games ;)

I've seen one on rpgnet but it has apparently halted.

This is mostly a test post.
Cheers.

Somebody is calling desperately in the RPoL Wanted GMs subforum for a new game. Join your voice to the plea and maybe somebody answers?

Oh-ho! So my [Networking: The Internets] skill must have succeeded with a certain margin of success. Or maybe it failed by a large enough margin to mock me. I don't know!

Yeah, this is the same person who launched that post in the GMs wanted section. Really interested in the setting, but sadly there doesn't seem to be anyone actually playing it.

Re: Eclipse Phase: Online

Hehe. I keep an eye on the W-GMs subforum for interesting stuff, and an EP game definitely qualifies as interesting. So yea, I noticed it. I was lucky enough to get into one of the first games on sight (I hogged the poor GM for a spot even before he opened it up for players!) :D

I've been asking around on Myth-Weavers for a game, but haven't had much luck yet.

Any new games out there that are currently accepting that you guys know of?

It's a curse I often see with sci-fi games, particularly the less space opera the syle. For some the complications of the tech are too much of a headache, for others it's the abandonment of the fantasy tropes they've come to love in their RP that's too much. Either way, EP is unlikely to get anywhere near the same level of play in the groups I've frequented as most fantasy games, but that doesn't stop me from loving the setting.

Re: Eclipse Phase: Online

Agreed very much, Happydaze. I can't begin to tell you how much trouble I've had trying to find a game for say, battletech... Even back when Battletech was new! XD

Sadly, sci-fi seems to always play second-fiddle to fantasy genres, which is sad. I always tend to laugh when I hear fantasy gamers within my circle complain that there's too little variation in the genre because of this.

I have a friday game. 4 females, 2 combat monkeys, 2 techies. We're holding our first game this friday using Maptools. I've been reluctant to take in more players so not to chance, deluting the fully female theme but if our first game goes well, I'll consider it. Message me if interested in joining or how to reach Friday's game.

I've a couple of players floating around on Darkcast looking for a GM to attach to. Has anyone here seen someone who wants to run but needs players or a place to play?

Re: Eclipse Phase: Online

OK,I'm going out on a limb here...I've been prepping and planning on an online game for a while (two months?) now, and I'm at the point where I'm looking for players. I have my own group here in town, but scheduling conflicts and the vagaries of adult life have left us unable to get together consistently.

So I want to run online. I've never run online. I have ideas, plans, schemes, and a setting prepared...now I just need players, and a method. I've heard good things about maptools, I'm willing to use Skype. If anyone's interested, go ahead and message me via the forums. (That's something we can do, right?)

Fim and I are trying to drum up some interest in a pbp game. We will probably host it over at darkcast as well since it has a nice forum and wiki already set up.

I've never really played on line or PbP (Play by post correct?)

How are these accomplished?

With PbP do you just make a post with your action in responce to something and then wait for everyone else to respond? How often do you post? Is it rude to only post once or twice in each evening? Or is there a set time that everyone gets together?

Sorry I'm kinda a noob so I'd aprieciate anyone's help.

Some groups may set a time for everyone to get together, but that's usually better accomplished on MapTools/instant messenger/some other outlet than a forum. Most games strive for a posting rate of at least 1/day for each player.

How good any given pbp game is really depends a ton on how dedicated everyone (especially the GM) is to it... I've been in some for over a year, and seen others crash and burn in under two weeks.

I'm already thinking of running a Shadowrun game via Google Wave in the new year. I would love to try EP as well. I have a few ideas for a campaign, but I need to fully read the rules first before I take on the task.

Yes! That good old forum magic comes through big time. <.< >.>

I would love to play in an EP game over Maptools or Wave, or Shadowrun, or Earthdawn, or...yeah, pretty much anything. But those three especially.

Like I said above, wait till I've gone through the rules and know how to play the game properly. I will do a game sometime in the New Year on Google Wave.

Re: Eclipse Phase: Online

I've created a Wave that will eventually be an EP Campaign. The game won't start till the New Year (unless someone else wants to GM on the Wave till I'm familiar with the rules). Anyone interested, please IM me and I will add you to the Wave (note, you will need a Google Wave account and I don't have any invites left (sorry)).

Re: Eclipse Phase: Online

I've always been a fan of the underplayed sci-fi games, and this one looks worth playing. I've been gaming for years, long enough so that ShadowRun having its 20 year anniversary hurts a bit. I ran a Gurps Transhuman Space game for a bit and we all loved the setting, and then scattered to the four winds. I'm on Pacific Standard Time, and work for myself so that should help with scheduling. I'd be up for splitting some of responsibilities (map making, running senerios, plot planning etc). I prefer group sizes of less than 6, but I have NO experience with pbp or pbf games. PM me if you have room or want to conquer Know Space.

Edit:moved to the correct thread.

I dunno. There seems to be a lot of talk about starting things up but little follow through. Four people have asked me for Wave invites so far though, so I guess interest is still there...

Guess that means I should actually work on the numbers for the character not just the concept. Wave didn't like your address Bishop, but I'll try again in a bit.

Are you planning to run this with scheduled meetups on Wave where everyone is online at once? Would be much more difficult for me to commit to it if that's the case (I'm also a full time college student).
