Review of Transhuman open playtest

Hi. There were a few topics that I wanted to post, but I didn't want to post them while the devs might still be busy working on the Transhuman book. Now that the Transhuman book was released to the public, I feel now is a good time to post them.

----

For this thread, I was wondering how well people think the Transhuman open playtests went. Do the devs think that it was worth their time? Did the testers think it was worth their time? Does everyone think that the book was better for it? Will the devs want to do this again? Is there anything you think should have been done differently?

Basically, I'm asking for your thoughts on the Transhuman open playtests.

----

For me, one of the things I think could have been better was the morph creation rules. Its not bad, but I feel it could have been done better. I don't know if I should have been doing things like trying to ask for the devs to post more recent version of the rules and stuff. There was a big gap between when the devs said they weren't looking for further feed back on the morph creation and the time we saw them again during the final proof reading. When we saw those rules again, I don't think we had much time to critique them, and they were grouped together with other rules so the focus wasn't just on them. Other rules got second playtests and stuff, so I'm not sure if the morph creation rules got their fair share of attention.

The playtest itself

I think the playtest itself went fairly well; certainly a unique experiance in my book. But one thing I think could have been managed a little better was the maintenance of a "This is the current versions of stuff" thread, stickied, with the up-to-date versions in the original post. One of those eventually emerged near the end; but only after some confusion had set in with my player group.

Answering some of the questions...

Mostly yes. The devs seemed like they really listened to my feedback (even when I was posting massive walls of text), and I think it was worthwhile.

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I think the book is better for it. I was mostly commenting on traits, and the final traits are much better than the originally proposed traits. There are still things in the book that I don't like (Murder Simulator Addict) but overall I think the book really benefited from the open playtest.

I would have liked a pre-release version of the whole thing, basically finished. I understand completely why the devs didn't do this, but it would have probably caught a lot of the errors that made it into the book. Things like HEAP grenades (they don't exist) and zap rounds for a rail gun (also don't exist).
